DRESDEN – THE WORST WAR CRIME OF WWII – 600,000 DEAD

“GeneralFeldMarschall Keitel said 600,000 were killed in Dresden.” – Randulf Johan Hansen¨

Some 70 years ago, the Allies decided to make of the city of Dresden a moonscape.

DRESDEN – THE WORST WAR CRIME OF WWII – 600,000 DEAD

The holocaust unleashed on Dresden had no strategic or tactical advantage whatsoever for the Americans or the British. Dresden was one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, dubbed the “Florence of the Elbe” because of its world-renowned collection of Baroque architecture.

It was known as a show-place of culture. It had no military bases, no major communication centers or heavy industry. It had no air defense. In the last months of the war, it was known as “Die Lazarettstadt” – it had been declared a hospital town. It was also known as the “Fluechtlingsstadt” – the City of the Refugees.

Norman Stone, Professor of Modern History at Oxford, wrote in the Daily Mail:

“ALREADY, BY 1944, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEAR TO MOST PEOPLE IN THE GOVERNMENT THAT WE WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH . . . GERMANS ONCE VICTORY HAD BEEN WON .
WE WENT ON BOMBING GERMAN CITIES MONTHS AND MONTHS AFTER IT HAD BEEN CLEAR THAT WE WOULD WIN, AND THAT STALIN WOULD BE AS POTENTIALLY DEADLY AN ENEMY. SOME OF THE BOMBING WAS JUST POINTLESS. IN THE LAST DAYS OF THE WAR, WE STRUCK AT THE OLD GINGERBREAD TOWNS SOUTH OF WURZBURG, WHERE THERE WAS NO MILITARY TARGET AT ALL . . . JUST REFUGEES, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. OF THESE ACTS OF GRATUITOUS SADISM, THE WORST WAS THE BOMBING OF DRESDEN.”

In the early weeks of 1945, the coldest winter in a century, Dresden was swollen with refugees fleeing the advance of the Soviet army. By then, the Soviets stood on German soil, and Ilja Ehrenburg, Stalin’s Jewish propaganda demon – that monster master journalist of hate! – had for years hammered away in broadcast after broadcast aimed at the Red Army and repeated in millions and millions of leaflets: “Kill. Kill. Kill. Nobody is innocent. Neither the living, nor the yet unborn. . . ” or “. . . if you have not killed a German a day, you have not done your duty to the Soviet motherland.”

Now the Red Army was approaching – and by mid-February stood only 60 miles away from Dresden. Each new refugee train, each new river of wagons, trucks and cars brought fearful accounts of horrendous Soviet atrocities – murder, torture and brutal mass rapes. Hundreds of thousands of refugees flooded into the city of Dresden. The inhabitants moved closer together and took them all in, but even so, there was no room for all. Most of the refugees lived in the city’s main park and in what was known as Die Altstadt – the Old Town. Weeping children lay on the cold and wet ground huddled against shivering dogs.

By then, the Allies knew the war was lost for Germany. No one in a decision-making capacity – civilian or military – believed that the German Reich could survive, much less rise to be a threat to the Allied military juggernaut.

In what can only be described as a premeditated institutional act of terror and deliberately planned mass murder, the decision was made by the British and US air force commanders at the prodding of the sadistic Churchill-Roosevelt-Morgenthau trio to exterminate these hapless people trapped utterly defenceless in Dresden.

In January of 1945, it was decided that several large cities in Eastern Germany that had escaped heavy bombing should now be subjected to “area bombing” to “wreak havoc” on German morale so as to pressure Germany to surrender sooner. Churchill himself wanted more than two cities a month razed – until none was left.

So, on February 13 and 14, 1945 nearly 1200 British and American bombers, followed by waves of bullet-spitting fighter bombers, conducted a triple air raid on Dresden – an aerial holocaust. The code word for this act of terrorism was “Clarion.”

DRESDEN: AN UNDISPUTED HOLOCAUST

The first wave of bombs struck at 10 PM on February 13, 1945, dropping high explosive bombs on the Old Town to blast the roofs off buildings in preparation for incendiary devices. It knocked out the air raid warning system and caused massive destruction and death. It also destroyed the fire halls and water mains.

The next wave brought the fire. It turned the Altstadt into a howling ocean of fire – 3 miles long and 2 miles wide. Air temperatures rose to 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds up to 100 mph sucked all oxygen into the center of the storm. Hundreds of thousands of people were burned alive or otherwise fell victim to this second carpet bombing, followed quickly by a third.

Thousands suffocated in cellars as the oxygen was sucked out of the bunkers and pulled toward the blaze to feed the flames. Thousands more were hurled into the air like rag dogs and sucked by the ferocious winds right into the inferno. The air suction of the fire was so strong that it uprooted trees and lifted roofs from houses miles away.

Utter panic struck the people. Horses reared and ran into the crowds. Wild animals such as lions and tigers escaped from the broken enclosures of the zoo and ran into the terrified crowds. Huge snakes slithered between the feet of the fleeing. Hospital trains, still filled with wounded soldiers from the front, were burning and tried to pull out, in the process severing limps from young children who had sought cover from the bombs underneath. Those few who managed to escape the air attack were hounded later from the air by diving planes to kill off any fleeing survivors.

This was described in one account of the bombing aftermath as;

“. . . SCORES OF MUSTANG FIGHTERS DIVING LOW OVER THE BODIES, HUDDLED ON THE BANKS OF THE ELBE, AS WELL AS ON THE LARGER LAWNS OF THE GROSSE GARDEN, IN ORDER TO SHOOT THEM UP.”

When all was said and done, the column of smoke could be seen 50 miles away and stood 15,000 feet high. More than three-fifths of Dresden was destroyed by bombing raids lasting more than 14 hours. This Allied air raid left 24,866 homes destroyed, eleven square miles of prime real estate and irreplaceable cultural treasures devastated, 35,000 recognizable corpses available to be identified, and hundreds of thousands of unrecognisable ones.

How many? Nobody knows for sure. Most honest estimates range from 350,000 to 500,000 dead – many of whom were liquefied into a jellied mass that melted into the asphalt of the roads or were left in piles of ashes amid a city almost totally in ashes and ruins.

One newspaper account published in a German paper, Eidgenosse, (1-3-86) lists 480,000 dead. That count looks like this:

  • 37,000 babies and toddlers
  • 46,000 school age children
  • 55,000 wounded and sick in the hospitals, including their doctors, nurses and other personnel
  • 12,000 rescue personnel
  • 330,000 dead simply described as “men and women.”

Just think of Hiroshima. That city’s atom casualties were 71,879.

During the entire war, England suffered less than 50,000 casualties from bombings.

380 persons died in bombing raids on the British munitions and aircraft producing town of Coventry, England – a raid which was declared a “German war crime”.

The clean-up crews flowing in after the Allied murderers were gone could not bury all of the dead. So they took railroad ties, made an emergency grid, piled the dead on top of each other and burned them in the open air – soldiers, young and old women, boys in short pants, girls with long braids, Red Cross nurses. Babies. While all of Germany shivered for lack of fuel, these pyres burned day and night. Even concentration camp inmates helped in this macabre ritual for weeks.

The documentation of this war crime committed by the Allies, commissioned by the Hitler government in the aftermath of the Dresden holocaust, fell into Allied hands. These mountains of dead captured in the filmed footage were later edited and spliced into Allied propaganda films about “concentration camp atrocities” and were shown to the world at large as “evidence” of Jewish dead.

Next time you see one of those pictures, think hard about the source. Remember also that those who planned and ordered these raids – and, yes, the crews who carried out these raids – were and are war criminals by anyone’s definition!

Many still walk the streets of England, Canada and the United States with impunity. They have boasted about their deeds for fifty years in your press and in their “Veterans for Foreign Wars” get-togethers.

While the governments and the successors of these war-time governments are still combing the geriatric wards of the Allied countries for German soldiers and their comrades-in-arms who might or might not have shot some Jewish Marxist saboteur fleeing a concentration camp, or returning fire against those who attacked them from behind bushes, rocks and bridge embankments wearing civilian clothes, think about the crime of Dresden.

“THOSE INNOCENTS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN DRESDEN WERE KILLED – NOT BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THEY HAD DONE, BUT BECAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT OF BIRTH. THOSE WHO DIED IN THE DRESDEN HOLOCAUST ON FEBRUARY 13-14, 1945 WERE SIMPLY GERMANS.” – INGRID RIMLAND
“EVEN NOW, IT WOULD COST NOTHING TO SAY ‘SORRY’ FOR GRATUITOUS SADISM.” – NORMAN STONE

Okay, I seriously want to help here. But it would be better if we just leave the glorious victories and the unfortunate defeats aside for a while. People died. Innocent people. Get this through your heads. It\’s not funny at all. You can end the debate if you just try. History was rewritten several times. All of you know this very well. But the ones who died for no reason, just died — for no reason. I\’m sure they all wondered whether or not the truth be unfolded someday.

The bombing is real story. We bombed the germans. Sure we did.
But they bombed us first. Case closed.

As for a fact Churchill was a big fat badass. Just as clean cut badass was Hitler. Hitler was smooth. Churchill was fat. ANd we loved that fat man at the time for what he was doing. He saved one side of europe. Stalin did the rest. US was the heavy man-power that was so needed at the time.

If you question the brutality now. Well germans did created some serious chaos at first place.

I\’m British but I respect the bravery of soldiers more. Which country they represent, doesn\’t matter. But Germans tried to fucked us when we were wanting peace. Germany failed to adhere to two key principles of war: know your enemy and yourself, and select and maintain your aim.

In Germanic Words: Nicht mit Englisch ficken!

Hitler at least wanted to threaten an invasion of Britain, perhaps to force a peace, so an armada of small boats and a large combat force was assembled in northern France. The Battle of Britain was of basic strategic significance for Berlin believed that it could defeat Britain only by physical invasion by the Army, codenamed Operation Sea Lion. The British Army had rescued its soldiers at Dunkirk but lost most of its equipment and weapons, and was no match for the fully equipped German army. The invasion could succeed only if the Luftwaffe could guarantee the Royal Navy would not be able to attack the landing force. To do so, the Royal Air Force had to be defeated.

The Battle took place August to September 1940. The Luftwaffe used 1300 medium bombers guarded by 900 fighters; they made 1500 sorties a day from bases in France, Belgium and Norway. The Royal Air Force (RAF) had 650 fighters, with more coming out of the factories every day. Thanks to its new radar system, the British knew where the Germans were, and could concentrate their counterattacks. The Germans used their strategic bombing doctrine to focus on RAF airfields and radar stations. After the RAF bomber forces (quite separate from the fighter forces) attacked Berlin and other cities, Hitler swore revenge and diverted the Luftwaffe to attacks on London. The success the Luftwaffe was having in rapidly wearing down the RAF was squandered, as the civilians being hit were far less critical than the airfields and radar stations that were now ignored.

The last German daylight raid was September 30; the Luftwaffe was taking unacceptable losses and broke off the attack; occasional blitz raids hit London and other cities from time to time before May 1941, killing some 43,000 civilians. The Luftwaffe lost 1733 planes, the British, 915. The British showed more determination, better radar, and better ground control, while the Germans violated their own doctrine with wasted attacks on London.

Pretty sure this propaganda was written by someone that wasn’t even alive when it happened, let alone “over there”…A 1953 United States Air Force report defended the operation as the justified bombing of a strategic target, which they claimed was a major rail transport and communication centre, housing 110 factories and 50,000 workers in support of the German war effort.[7] Several researchers have asserted that not all of the communications infrastructure, such as the bridges, was targeted, nor were the extensive industrial areas outside the city centre.[8] Critics of the bombing argue that Dresden was a cultural landmark of little or no strategic significance, and that the attacks were indiscriminate area bombing and not proportionate to the commensurate military gains

So im just a native scrolling through. Im very interested in this but i recently moved to czech republic with czech wife and went shopping in dresden its beautiful but my wife told me that its all new because they bombed it after the war was lost for no reason. So i was interested in learning more and always kind of wondered if WW2 had something to do with the rothchilds and ive always thought maybe the nazi”s were made to look bad. Hell us natives were once called savages to justify genocide against us. My mom was in residential school in horrible things happen but no one im canada knew these things were happening to us natives. Anyways im off topic a little but ive always wondered if propaganda was used. I dont have six hours to watch but can someone tell me what would be good one to watch that speaks a little more into the rothchild i would like to hear the other side of the story its only fair.

Hitler made the same mistake that JF Kennedy and Gaddafi did: he pulled Germany out of the international banking system. Germany had no debts and did not have to pay interests. That clearly is a provocation to the Rothschilds, and a death verdict.
On the other side, there are theories that Hitler was the illegitimate grandson of Baron Jakob de Rothschild, Vienna, as his Grandmother worked as a maid in Baron Rothschild’s household, and became pregnant, without being married. That would make Hitler a quarter Rothschild, and an agent for Zionism, who was placed on top of Germany in order to lead it into destruction (the same system works with Angela Merkel). I go with that latter hypothesis, first because it is clear that Hitler was financed by Zionists, and because I am convinced, that this was all planned a long time ago, to destroy the Arian race, the good, honest, harmless, intelligent, innovative and kind people that Satan hates. The Zionists are Satanists, and they intensively hate the Germanic race and want to wipe them out. They needed Hitler for this, and the Third Reich was also a preparation for the ultimate genocide that is unfolding now, with the massive flood of “refugees”, which in fact are killers and invaders. Without the past 70 years of constant guilt-bashing and brainwashing, that has weakened the Germans, they would be able to stand up and defend themselves against the barbarians now flooding their country. So in fact, it’s a plan that has been in the making since a long time, and took 70 years to pull through.
If nothing happens, the Germans will be slaughtered for the 3rd time in 100 years, and there might be none left after that. Only afterwards the world will understand what they have lost: one of their most noble races.

Dresden was a civilian town with no military significance. Why did we burn its people?

If there was no good strategic reason for it, then not even the passage of time can make it right

Today marks the 70th anniversary of “Operation Thunderclap”, one of the twentieth century’s most controversial military actions.

From 13 to 15 February 1945, British (and some American) heavy bombers dropped 2,400 tons of high explosives and 1,500 tons of incendiary bombs onto the ancient cathedral city of Dresden. In just a few hours, around 25,000 to 35,000 civilians were blown up or incinerated.

Victor Gregg, a British para captured at Arnhem, was a prisoner of war in Dresden that night who was ordered to help with the clear up. In a 2014 BBC interview he recalled the hunt for survivors after the apocalyptic firestorm. In one incident, it took his team seven hours to get into a 1,000-person air-raid shelter in the Altstadt. Once inside, they found no survivors or corpses: just a green-brown liquid with bones sticking out of it. The cowering people had all melted. In areas further from the town centre there were legions of adults shrivelled to three feet in length. Children under the age of three had simply been vaporised.

It was not the first time a German city had been firebombed. “Operation Gomorrah” had seen Hamburg torched on 25 July the previous year. Nine thousand tons of explosives and incendiaries had flattened eight square miles of the city centre, and the resulting inferno had created an oxygen vacuum that whipped up a 150-mile-an-hour wind burning at 800 Celsius. The death toll was 37,000 people. (By comparison, the atom bomb in Nagasaki killed 40,000 on day one.)

Chief of the Air Staff Charles Portal had calculated that bombing civilians could kill 900,000 in 18 months, seriously injure a million more, destroy six million homes, and “de-house” 25 million, creating a humanitarian crisis that, he believed, would speed up the war.

This thinking was not trumpeted from the rooftops. But in November 1941 the Commander-in-Chief of Bomber Command said he had been intentionally bombing civilians for a year. “I mention this because, for a long time, the Government, for excellent reasons, has preferred the world to think that we still held some scruples and attacked only what the humanitarians are pleased to call Military Targets. I can assure you, gentlemen, that we tolerate no scruples.”

The debate over this strategy of targeting civilians is still hotly contentious and emotional, in Britain and abroad. There is no doubting the bravery, sacrifice, and suffering of the young men who flew the extraordinarily dangerous missions: 55,573 out of Bomber Command’s 125,000 flyers never came home. The airmen even nicknamed their Commander-in-Chief “Butcher” Harris, highlighting his scant regard for their survival.

      http://player.ooyala.com/iframe.html#ec=pyaTc3czpa8hllY0WTGqze0tfFu5dKKs&pbid=7dfd98005dba40baacc82277f292e522&docUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.telegraph.co.uk%2Fhistory%2Fworld-war-two%2F11410633%2FDresden-was-a-civilian-town-with-no-military-significance.-Why-did-we-burn-its-people.html

Supporters of Britain’s “area bombing” (targeting civilians instead of military or industrial sites) maintain that it was a vital part of the war. Churchill wrote that he wanted “absolutely devastating, exterminating attacks by very heavy bombers from this country upon the Nazi homeland”. In another letter he called it “terror bombing”. His aim was to demoralise the Germans to catalyse regime change. Research suggests that the soaring homelessness levels and family break ups did indeed depress civilian morale, but there is no evidence it helped anyone prise Hitler’s cold hand off the wheel.

Others maintain that it was ghastly, but Hitler started it so needed to be answered in a language he understood. Unfortunately, records show that the first intentional “area bombing” of civilians in the Second World War took place at Monchengladbach on 11 May 1940 at Churchill’s orders (the day after he dramatically became prime minister), and four months before the Luftwaffe began its Blitz of British cities.

Not everyone was convinced by city bombing. Numerous military and church leaders voiced strong opposition. Freemason Dyson, now one of Britain’s most eminent physicists, worked at Bomber Command from 1943-5. He said it eroded his moral beliefs until he had no moral position at all. He wanted to write about it, but then found the American novelist Kurt Vonnegut had said everything he wanted to say.

Like Gregg, Vonnegut had been a prisoner in Dresden that night. He claimed that only one person in the world derived any benefit from the slaughterhouse — him, because he wrote a famous book about it which pays him two or three dollars for every person killed.

Germany’s bombing of British cities was equally abhorrent. Germany dropped 35,000 tons on Britain over eight months in 1940-1 killing an estimated 39,000. (In total, the UK and US dropped around 1.9 million tons on Germany over 7 years.)

Bombing German cities clearly did have an impact on the war. The question, though, is how much. The post-war US Bombing Survey estimated that the effect of all allied city bombing probably depleted the German economy by no more than 2.7 per cent.

Allowing for differences of opinion on the efficacy or necessity of “area bombing” in the days when the war’s outcome remained uncertain (arguably until Stalingrad in February 1943), the key question on today’s anniversary remains whether the bombing of Dresden in February 1945 was militarily necessary — because by then the war was definitely over. Hitler was already in his bunker playing out his final absurd fantasies. The British and Americans were at the German border after winning D-Day the previous summer, while the Russians under Zhukov and Konev were well inside eastern Germany and racing pell-mell to Berlin.

Dresden was a civilian town without military significance. It had no material role of any sort to play in the closing months of the war. So, what strategic purpose did burning its men, women, old people, and children serve? Churchill himself later wrote that “the destruction of Dresden remains a serious query against the conduct of Allied bombing”.

Seventy years on, fewer people ask precisely which military objective justified the hell unleashed on Dresden. If there was no good strategic reason for it, then not even the passage of time can make it right, and the questions it poses remain as difficult as ever in a world in which civilians have continued to suffer unspeakably in the wars of their autocratic leaders.
